Exploring Scripture Through Michel Keck's Contemporary Abstract Art Paintings
My abstract scripture art is a contemporary spiritual practice rooted in personal experience, abstraction, and the enduring power of sacred words. Through layered paint, texture, and handwritten text, I create works that invite reflection, connection, and a deeper sense of meaning beyond religious boundaries.

What Is Abstract Scripture Art?
Abstract scripture art is an expressive form of contemporary art that incorporates sacred text within non-representational, intuitive compositions. Rather than illustrating doctrine or literal narratives, my work allows scripture to exist as gesture, rhythm, and presence—woven into the surface of the painting itself.
The words are not meant to instruct or persuade. They are meant to resonate.

The Personal Origins of My Abstract Scripture Art
I began incorporating scripture into my artwork following the passing of my grandmother, my father’s mother. After her death, my father’s workplace—Ford Motor Company—gifted him a Bible housed in a simple wooden case. He later gave that Bible to me.
Inside the case was a prayer known as The Master Weaver Prayer. Those words stayed with me. One day, while painting, I felt compelled to scrawl that prayer directly into the wet surface of the work. It was unplanned, instinctive, and deeply emotional.
That moment became the beginning of my abstract scripture art.

Scripture as a Spiritual Connection Beyond Religion
While scripture is often associated with organized religion, I believe its power extends far beyond doctrine or denomination. Certain words carry resonance, comfort, and hope regardless of belief system.
My abstract scripture art creates space—for reflection, for stillness, for connection. Whether viewed through a spiritual lens, an emotional one, or simply as visual language, the words remain open and accessible. They meet the viewer where they are.

Why I Incorporate Scripture Into Abstract Work
By writing scripture directly into paint, I allow language to become texture and movement rather than message alone. The words may be partially obscured, layered, or fragmented, reflecting the way meaning unfolds differently for each person over time.
This approach invites the viewer to discover rather than decode.

A Contemporary Practice Rooted in Folk Art Tradition
My use of text within abstraction is influenced by my long-standing love of folk art, which I have collected and studied for many years. Folk artists have incorporated words, prayers, and scripture into their work for generations.
When I began this practice over two decades ago, scripture was rarely seen within contemporary abstract art. It was unconventional—and it was deeply felt.
Collectors and viewers around the world responded.
Why Collectors Connect With My Abstract Scripture Art
Many people tell me these works bring comfort, grounding, and hope. Others connect simply through the emotion, texture, and movement of the paintings themselves.
These pieces are often among the works I am best known for, and they continue to resonate with collectors who are drawn to art that holds meaning without limitation.

Original Abstract Scripture Art by Michel Keck
Each piece is created as a one-of-a-kind work, guided by intuition, memory, and reverence for the written word. My abstract scripture art reflects a lifelong exploration of spirituality, abstraction, and the belief that art can speak quietly—but powerfully—across all boundaries. My original scripture abstract paintings are often sold quickly after completion. All of my abstract scripture paintings are professionally photographed so that I can make a line of abstract scripture fine art prints.
